Cold Feet - The Complete Third Series (DVD)

The British drama COLD FEET enters its third series with more problems in store for its six leading characters. As Jenny (Fay Ripley) and Pete (John Thomson) face the music and decide to break up, Adam (James Nesbitt) and Rachel (Helen Baxendale) move in the opposite direction and talk about getting married. Meanwhile, David (Robert Bathurst) and Karen (Hermione Norris) face problems as David enters into a sordid affair shortly after Karen gives birth to twins. The show creates a successful formula by tempering the drama with moments of inspired comedy--the scenes between Nesbitt and Thomson`s characters are frequently played for laughs and provide a welcome respite from the relationship woes that dominate each episode. A hit on BBC America and in its native country, COLD FEET has often been compared to FRIENDS, although it delves far deeper into the motivations and actions of the characters and provides a grittier portrayal of life than the popular American sitcom. The third series of the show is included here in its entirety.

Excel Saga - Vol. 4: Doing Whatever it Takes! (DVD)

Billed as the ultimate parody of anime, EXCEL SAGA certainly goes out of its way to parody every convention of the genre it can. From the cloying J-pop opening, it's clear that this series' sole aim is to be a good-natured farce, one that revolves around a main character who, on the surface is not much different from any other anime heroine. However, the key difference between Excel and all those who preceded her is that Excel is completely and utterly insane and considers it her goal to to conquer the city of F. These episodes find Excel and Hyatt desperate to keep the ratings up on their anime and resorting to such gimmickry as Highly Merchandisable Characters and even Sexual Jeopardy.

Creepshow 2 (DVD)

This sequel to the popular EC Comics parody once again brings an anthology of Stephen King's tales to the screen. In Old Chief Wood'nhead, a dime store Indian comes to life and exacts bloody retribution on those who murdered its owner; The Raft details four teenagers descent into terror as they are stranded in the middle of a lake patrolled by a carnivorous gelatin monster; The Hitchhiker tells the tale of a woman's fateful date with destiny after she runs down a nightime hitcher. As in the first film, all three tales are interconnected by the Creep, an undead host with a penchant for maniacal cackling.
